What is Notebook AI?
Notebook AI is a set of integrated tools that allows you to transform or extend any Notebook lesson—from the PocketLab Library or any premium content library you can access.
With just a few clicks, you can:
- Translate lessons into hundreds of languages
- Adjust the reading level to fit your students’ needs
- Generate supplemental materials like quizzes, rubrics, and lesson plans
- Customize output with your own prompt
These features are designed to help you spend less time preparing and more time teaching.
What Can You Do with Notebook AI?
1. Translate Lesson
What it does: Translates lesson content into over 100 languages.
How it helps: Supports multilingual learners and families by making content accessible in their native language.
How to use it:
- Open any lesson in the PocketLab Library or in a premium content library
- Click the Edit Version dropdown.
- Select Notebook AI → Translate.
- Choose a language (listed alphabetically).
- A new version of the lesson will be generated in that language.
2. Adjust Reading Level
What it does: Rewrites the lesson content at a different grade level.
How it helps: Differentiates materials for students with varying reading abilities.
How to use it:
- Go to Notebook AI → Adjust Reading Level.
- Choose a target grade (e.g., 4th, 6th, 9th).
- The lesson will be rewritten at the selected reading level.
3. Generate New Documents
Notebook AI can generate several types of instructional resources based on a lesson. Each option creates a document that’s editable and printable.
Lesson Plan
Generates a lesson plan based on the lesson to help you prepare your instruction.
Grading Rubric
Generates a customizable grading rubric based on the lesson to support consistent and objective assessment of student work.
NGSS Standards Alignment
Creates a document shows how the lesson aligns with NGSS performance expectations, helping you meet national science standards in your instruction.
TEKS Standards Alignment
Creates a document that maps the lesson to relevant TEKS standards to ensure alignment with Texas state curriculum requirements.
Exit Ticket
Generates an exit ticket with 5 formative questions based on the lesson—four multiple choice and one free response—to assess student understanding at the end of class.
Quiz
Creates a quiz with 10 questions based on this lesson—seven multiple choice and three free response—to evaluate student learning in greater depth.
Family Lesson Overview
Generates a letter to families based on this lesson to share what students learned and are working on in class. Provides families with questions they can ask their student to help spark discussion about what their learning.
Custom Document
Generates a custom document based on this lesson using your own prompt. Create anything you need—from worksheets to newsletters—by guiding the AI with your own instructions.
How to Access Notebook AI
- Open any PocketLab lesson.
- Click Edit Version.
- Select Notebook AI.
- Choose from the AI tool menu: Translate, Adjust Reading Level, Generate Document.
